How we support

Social support

When your world changes overnight, it’s the moments of true connection that can make the greatest difference. At Team Jak, we create safe, joyful spaces where children and young people with cancer — and those who love them — can come together, make memories and feel less alone.  Our social support services can be found at our Jak’s Dens in Livingston and Aberdeen, our pop-up Dens in Glasgow and Fife, and other locations.

Weekly Sessions

Mini Denners (Under-5s)
For children aged 0-5, our Mini Denners activities at our Livingston and Aberdeen Jak’s Dens offer a safe space to play, sing, make a mess, and just be a child. Parents get a chance to relax and connect too.

Lego Club for Teens and Tweens
Held on a Thursday after school with challenges games, fun and laughter for our teens and tweens (10-12 year olds).

Friday Fun Lunch Club
Make a date with us at our Livingston Den on a Friday for lunch plus fun and games for all the family planned around our theme for the week.

While the young people play around Jak’s Den, parents and carers can have a coffee and relax in our Family Zone.

Pop-Up Support Sessions

Fife Pop-Up Den
Our Fife Pop-Up Den in Glenrothes offers relaxed sessions with crafts, conversation and calming activities like yoga and mindfulness. It’s a space for parents and children to recharge and connect with others who understand.

Glasgow Pop-Up Den
Our Glasgow sessions provide a warm, welcoming environment for children, young people and their families to meet, chat, and take part in creative, uplifting activities.

Warrior Activities
Our Warriors — children and young people diagnosed with cancer — are at the heart of everything we do. All Team Jak age-appropriate Den activities and outings help our Warriors bond, have fun, and build friendships with others who understand their journey.

Mini Denners (Under-5s)
Designed for children aged 0-5, our Mini Denners programme provides a safe space to experience music time with their music sacks, messy play, story time, crafts, snacks and free play. Our activities all follow a weekly theme and mimic a nursery environment which many of our younger children cannot experience for fear of infection.

Teen Sessions
A chance for teenagers to hang out with others who understand, both in the Den and out and about at activities like escape rooms and bowling. The Den includes a dedicated teen zone with games and chill-out space.

Super Siblings
Siblings are welcome at all our activities, and we also organise sessions and outings just for them, giving them a chance to feel seen, supported and included.
