Louise’s Love Named Fund
“We care for families because other families cared for us”
One of our Aberdeen families Vikki and Lee contacted us and said they wanted to give us some money to help a family we thought needed help on their cancer journey which led to us discussing how they would like to have a lasting tribute to Louise.
We are absolutely delighted and honoured that Louise’s Love is our first Team Jak named fund raising money in Louise’s name and helping other families going through this journey
Louise 17/2/09-12/5/20Our world was turned upside down on the 4 of February 2019 when I took Louise into A&E with a fever and bruising all on her lower legs and backs of her hands. She was pale and a lot skinnier than normal. All these signs were gradual and we had not a clue up until the fever that something could be wrong. Within the hour of bloods being taken we were told it could be leukaemia. From there she was assessed and the fever just got worse and worse. She had a Hickman line put in on the 7th but ended up aspirating during surgery which meant she had to be put on a ventilator and flown down to Edinburgh from ARI. She was on the ventilator for 6 days and had a total of ten days stay there before she got well enough to go back to Aberdeen. They found her diagnosis to be a rare type of AML and started chemo soon after. Things were going well but we were told she would need a stem cell transplant to have a better chance at beating it. Her transplant was given on the 9th of August 2019 in Glasgow and she did amazing through it even with the bad mucositis and sickness she got through it with love and support from me her dad and sister. She relapsed around Christmas time and was given DLI to help boost the donor cells. She was doing well up until she started to hold a lot of fluid which happened about 3 times until the last time it was too much for her and her poor body was swollen so bad that she was in pain. She took her last breath on the morning of the 12th of May 2020 with mum dad and her sister by her side. She was only 11 years old and We love and miss our angel everyday and just wish that this had never happened to her.
Louise was such a caring girl and very artistic with a strong outlook in life. All who knew her loved her and she loved all her family and friends.
Forever 11 Louise Matthew
Beautiful girl beautiful family and what a beautiful thing to do for others.
Thankyou Vikki, Lee and Sarah for choosing Team Jak to create smiles and ease the journey for other families going through this journey.
We have already helped one family with a number of much needed items for their house and they are hugely grateful.
